◆[updated on 5 November 2015] An annoncement of the next annual conference (42nd) of the Joseph Conrad Society, UK, has arrived:

THE JOSEPH CONRAD SOCIETY (UK) invites proposals for papers for its 42nd Annual International Conference, to be held in Edinburgh at Edinburgh Napier University, Merchiston Campus, Colinton Road, Edinburgh, EH10 5DT, rom Wednesday 29 June to Saturday 2 July 2016. Proposals for 25-minute papers and for panels on all topics related to Conrad’s life, work, and circle are invited. The deadline for submission of abstracts (of about 300 words) is 4 April 2016. They should be sent in duplicate in MS Word format to Hugh Epstein, Honorary Secretary of the Joseph Conrad Society UK, at: hughepstein@hotmail.co.uk and also to the conference organizer at Napier, Professor Linda Dryden, at:l.dryden@napier.ac.uk.

I. the Cracow Conrad Conference (September 2014)

Professor Jolanta Dudek (Jagiellonian University, Cracow) informed us of the Cracow Conrad Conference (September 2014), which is going to be held by the Jagiellonian University Joseph Conrad Research Centre and the Joseph Conrad Society (Poland). The deadline for sending abstracts is 30th June 2014, whereas the deadline for payment of the conference fee plus a deposit of 100 euros (i.e.200 euros or -- in the case of students -- 150 euros) is 15th July 2014. We appreciate Professor Dudek's kindness.

II. "Adapting Conrad" (30 May 2014)

◆Professor Mark Larabee has sent us emails in middle May 2012, callings for papers in two conferences. We appreciate his kindness to inform me of these two calls.

Professor Jeremy Hawthorn has sent us a letter lately, calling for papers on ‘An Outpost of Progress’ at the Cape Town Conference to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from the 5th to the 10th December 2011.

Professor Dr. Hab. Wieslaw Krajka, president of the Polish Press Association Conference Centre, has sent us a letter lately, calling for papers at the Fifth International Joseph Conrad Conference to be held on 12?16 July, 2011 in Lublin, Poland and congratulating us on having published the first journal ‘Conrad Studies’ in June, 2009.
